The most rewarding part of my exchange year in the United States through the FLEX Program was the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan and share the traditions, values, and cultural heritage that have shaped who I am. Through cultural presentations at my school and in the local community, I introduced students and teachers to Kazakh traditions and national games. Many became especially interested in traditions such as Tusau Keser and games like Aqqu Ushty, which sparked meaningful discussions about Kazakh culture. What began as a single presentation quickly grew into a larger initiative. I was featured on a local news channel and went on to deliver more than 35 cultural presentations, reaching over 700 students. Seeing people from different backgrounds engage with and appreciate my culture was incredibly meaningful. This experience taught me the importance of cultural exchange and the power of education in building understanding between communities. It showed me that sharing one's culture is not only about preserving traditions but also about creating connections, challenging stereotypes, and fostering mutual respect. As a result, I became a stronger communicator, public speaker, and advocate for cross-cultural understanding, skills that I hope to continue developing throughout my university studies and future career.
