Every student has their own starting point, and every achievement deserves to be celebrated. A few months ago, my student joined my General English course with a Beginner level. At the beginning, it was difficult to answer even basic questions, understand spoken English, or work with texts confidently. Instead of focusing on IELTS preparation from day one, we concentrated on building a strong foundation in English. Our lessons followed a consistent structure: learning new vocabulary, understanding grammar, and, most importantly, applying everything through speaking practice. We spent a significant amount of time discussing different topics in English because I believe that language is learned by using it. After just one month, the progress became noticeable. My student started understanding spoken English more confidently, answering everyday questions with greater ease, and working with reading texts much more independently. Over four months of consistent learning—three one-hour lessons per week, followed by five lessons per week since May—this progress continued to grow. Today, my student received an IELTS Overall Band Score of 4.5, including an excellent Band 6.0 in Writing. While this is not the final goal, it marks an important milestone for someone who started from a Beginner level. Our journey doesn’t end here. The next goal is an IELTS Band 5.0, which will help my student meet the university admission requirements and move one step closer to higher education. As a teacher, moments like these remind me that meaningful progress comes from consistency, trust, and the willingness to keep learning. I am proud of this achievement, and I look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.
