After reading my first posts, many people asked me: “What is BIG4?” BIG4 is the common name for the four largest international companies in audit, accounting, tax, and consulting. The BIG4 companies are Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and KPMG. Did you know that before BIG4, there was BIG8? 🤔 Over the years, the biggest audit firms joined together. First there were eight companies, then six, then five. In 2002, Arthur Andersen closed, and only four global firms remained: ✔️ Deloitte ✔️ PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) ✔️ Ernst & Young (EY) ✔️ KPMG Today, BIG4 does much more than audit. These companies also help businesses with consulting, taxes, business deals, digital transformation, and AI. BIG4 has a big impact on the world economy. Their auditors check financial reports so that investors, banks, and governments can trust the information. Companies audited by BIG4 often have more trust from investors and lenders. They also help businesses reduce risks, improve management, and use modern business practices. Now, when you hear the name BIG4, you will know what the “4” means and why these companies are so important.
