š If you had the opportunity to study at a private school in Kazakhstan, would you take it? While working on my second project, Establishing a KIMEP-Inspired Secondary School in Almaty, I started thinking about the role private schools can play in shaping studentsā futures. Many people view private schools simply as more expensive versions of regular schools, but I believe the difference often goes much deeper. Private schools usually offer smaller class sizes, which allows teachers to pay more attention to each student. They often provide stronger English-language instruction, modern learning environments, international programs, career guidance, leadership opportunities, and a wider range of extracurricular activities. Another important advantage is that many private schools focus not only on academic achievement but also on developing critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Students are encouraged to participate in Olympiads, research projects, debates, volunteer activities, and internships from an early age. As a result, they graduate not only with strong grades but also with practical experience and a clearer understanding of their future goals. This is one of the reasons why our project proposes a KIMEP-inspired secondary school. The goal is not simply to create another school, but to build an environment where students can prepare for university and future careers at the same time. Imagine graduating from Grade 11 already having strong English skills, academic preparation, career experience, and a direct pathway to university education. If I personally had the opportunity to study at any private school in Kazakhstan, I would choose Haileybury Almaty. Over the years, I have participated in several of its Olympiads, competitions, and academic events. Every time I interacted with the school, I was impressed by its international atmosphere, active student community, and commitment to excellence. It seems like a place where students are encouraged to think independently, develop leadership skills, and pursue ambitious goals. Also Haileybury Almaty stands out because it prepares students for the worldās leading universities and encourages them to think globally from an early age. Many of its graduates have gone on to study at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Oxford, UCL, Yale, and other top universities around the world. For me, this demonstrates the quality of education and the opportunities available to students who are willing to work hard and aim high. What about you? Would you recommend studying at a private school? If yes, which one would you choose and why? š
