I'm incredibly grateful to share that our team won the Champion title at the Malaysia Industrial Mathematical Modelling Challenge (MIMMC) 2026! 🏆 We proposed a mathematical model for dynamic pricing in agricultural machinery rental systems. Overall, this competition challenged us to go beyond solving equations—it challenged us to build mathematical models that address real-world industrial and societal problems. Our team focused on agriculture, developing a mathematical model to determine a sustainable machinery rental pricing strategy for chili farmers. Using a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), we modeled both farmer adoption and machinery service provider capital accumulation to identify a pricing strategy that balances affordability for farmers with long-term business sustainability for providers. It was exciting to see how mathematical modelling can support better decision-making in agriculture and contribute to a more resilient farming ecosystem. One of the most inspiring parts of MIMMC was learning from other finalists' ideas. From solutions for EV charging station optimization to robot vacuum path planning and many other innovative applications, every project demonstrated how mathematics can be transformed into practical solutions for real challenges. Beyond the competition itself, I had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with talented students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). These conversations reminded me that some of the best learning happens outside the presentation room. This experience reinforced something I'll carry forward: mathematical modelling isn't just about building accurate equations—it's about understanding complex systems, making informed decisions, and creating solutions that people can actually use. A huge thank you to our mentors, organizers, judges, and everyone who made this competition possible. Most importantly, thank you to my teammates for the countless hours of brainstorming, modelling, revising, and preparing. This achievement belongs to all of us. Looking forward to applying these experiences to even more real-world challenges! #MIMMC2026 #MathematicalModelling #OperationsResearch #Agriculture #DataScience #STEM #Innovation #Teamwork
